It’s been an interesting few months that have seen five of my poems published which really ought to be a boost but, instead, I am so very stuck and so I’m muddling about, considering journals and contests to submit to – my whole world feels rather meh. Interesting how having those five pieces published (one even won a second place in a contest) doesn’t bear half the weight of the rejections I received in the same period.
I don’t know if it’s Covid, or the Russian attack on Iran, or the crazy freaking weather, but it’s a hard world right now and I just can’t seem to find the words. Who has taken my words?
Anyway, here is this to read – a villanelle I had published in a new Canadian journal called Arboreal. I hope you enjoy it! It’s on page 43.
